Workshop and Audition

Feb 21: Today I had an audition that I had to go on tape for a film being casted in New Orleans. Since I  have a Louisiana agent, my audition will be seen with more creditability for the . It is for a remake of the hit series 21 jump street that made Johnny Depp take off. I only auditioned for a small role, but it still would be great of course! At 7:15, I went to a workshop with the casting director of 90210 Marlo Tiede. I did a scene from 90210 and she seemed to be very pleased!

Tuesday

Filming!!!

Feb 19-20: This weekend I filmed the lead for a short film called "Silence in Song". I played the character of Nova in a silent film. I am a performer who's life is the noise and her performance is the silence- her safe haven. It was very fun to film and the director is very cool. She is a graduate at USC and what is great about this film is I can have some film on my acting reel. I had to cry and show a true range of emotion so I can't wait to see how it turns out. I was done up like an edgy rock chick- which was a lot of fun!

Scene Study

Feb 17: Today we had scene study in our appartment. We worked on comedic timing and not being thrown off by other actors. The scene is from a new NBC movie that one of my friends is up for the male lead. Hope he gets it! Time here is going by so fast!

Wednesday

Scene Study and a Workshop

Feb 16: Last night we had acting class at our apartment until 1 am! Antonia works so hard with us and I feel like my acting abilities are really improving. Breaking down a dramatic script and performing it repeatedly with new direction is very difficult. Especially when the director wants tears on a certain line. I love working this hard on my acting and reading new scripts. Today, I have been doing school work all day so that tonight I can go to a workshop with a famous casting director Don Pemrick. He is casting a film needing a seventeen year old looking girl so I want to do really well tonight so he will look at me for future projects!

Tuesday

The Gift on Valentine's Day

Feb 14-15: Auditions don't stop just because it is the day of love! Last night, I had an audition for the lead role of nova in a silent film  surrounding her distractions before she goes on stage. The audition went very well. I really hit it off with the casting director Roxanne Teti (an alumni at USC where her film will be shown at the school and at festivals) and it was worth the horrendous drive! (I left at 5 for a 7 pm audition and got there just in time- and it is only 25 min away!) This morning I found out I booked the part! I am very excited! We are filming this weekend. It will be nice to have some clips of my acting in my actors real to submit to other casting directors and this will go on my resume. I'm so excited for the experience!

The Americana

Feb 13: Today was so beautiful I laid out by the pool overlooking the scenic California hills after my workout. After doing some school work, my rommates and I went to the beautiful mall the Americana in Glendale so they could pick up job applications and I looked around. The size is rediculous and it has every store I can think of. I didn't get to spend long there, but I cant wait to go back! I bought some sunglasses so now I look very California! This pic is the warner brother studios which is so close you can see this after a three minute walk.

Workshop

Feb 12: Today I had a workshop with Marnie Satta who is the main casting director for "Days of Our Lives". I had met with her for a previous audition last year and this workshop was great for me and my friends in my acting managment group to really see her vision of what acting should be. She had great advice on script breakdown and analysis and she was very straightforward about all of her opinions. I love that in poeple because it is the only way you can grow as an actress. We worked on a few scenes she has recently cast and I hope to audition with her again in the future!

Hollywood and Highlands

feb 11: Today after my daily regimen of working out (if you want to play the game you have to fully commit!) I went to Hollywood and Highlands the mall to explore. That night I went out to dinner with my roomies at a fun little place called Aroma. Here are some pics!

Thursday

First Day

Feb 10: Today was a whirl wind of a day! I had my first official audition! During the day after unpacking and exercising with my roomies I took my father out to lunch before he flies back to Dallas. Universal City walk is 1.5 miles away from my appartment and so we walked around and ate at Wolfgang Puck. While I was there, I got a text from Antonia saying I had an audition in a few hours. In LA you always have to be prepared so I was already set to go. All I needed to do was memorize my sides. Lucky for me, memorization is not to hard.  So, I auditioned for the role of Tess in a Pilot at CBS studios with the casting directors Tracy Lilienfield and Laura Adler. There was a girl there auditioning to play my sister who looks just like I did at nine! Hopefully that will help me get a callback. For pilots and movies, there are many ways you can book. Some book straight of tape while others you see in person two to even five times before they let you know. Well, I am off to have a scene study acting class with Antonia and all my acting buddies out here for pilot season so we can continue to hone our craft! But before I go, here is a few pictures from Universal City.

the Arrival!

Febuary 9: Today after three full days on the road I finally arrived in LA! I am staying at the Oakwood (where many actors stay) for pilot season. Now, some of you may be asking, "What is pilot season?" Well, it is the time of the year that tv show pilots are casted as well as many films. Back in Dallas, I work with an acting coach, Antonia DeNardo, who is also my manager for her manegment company, Millennium Artists. Many of my friends in my class are currently working actors and actresses and we are all working very hard to be consistently working actors. I spend much of my time memorizing scripts, auditioning, and going to class with Antonia. So, to say acting is a passion of mine is an understatement! Tonight after hours on the road I quickly got ready for a workshop with Geralyn Flood. She casts "I'm in the band" and etc on Nick. She also does films. One of them is called "Rennaissance Girl" which is about a young girl saving money for college by working in a rennaissance fair with her firends. I hope to audition for it in the future! I luckily have a few genre of sides prepared so I was able to do a good performance. The road was long and hard but so worth it! Here are some fun pictures from the road!
